A brief history of the Arsenal shirt

The Arsenal is one of the biggest football clubs and successful in English football history. Their land home is in north London at the Emirates Stadium.

Arsenal were originally appointed Dial Square and had its own ground in Woolwich, southeast London. In 1891 the team turned professional and changed its name to Woolwich Arsenal. In 1913 he moved north to Highbury before moving to the new Emirates Stadium in 2006. Valued at more than 600 million pounds, Arsenal are not only one of the largest but also one of the richest clubs in England.

The selection of red as the main color of the shirt of Arsenal has an interesting history. Once Dial Square was formed, they needed a team to play a lien was not found or given to them. Among the participants were two male founders recently moved south to work, which were formally Nottingham Forest players. These two men wrote Nottingham Forest back to ask for help and received a set of equipment and a ball. Naturally, from Nottingham Forest, the team was dark red. The team completed with white shorts and blue socks. The kit was updated in 1933 to the now familiar red pillar box with white sleeves. The precise reason is not white sleeves known. But history argues that a fan in the stands was wearing a sleeveless red sweater over a white shirt was the inspiration. This band has remained unchanged, apart from two seasons. The first was in 1966-67 when Arsenal wore all red shirts. The second occasion was in the 2006 season, the last to be played at Highbury when the team returned to the darker, the colors used in the black currant first season of 1913 Highbury.

Yellow and blue are the colors used for the Arsenal away shirt. However there have been departures from this. In 1982-1984 was wearing a green shirt and navy blue. Since 1990, the strip has changed far more frequently to take advantage of the replica shirt market. Blue designs have been used, in addition to replacing the traditional yellow, gold. The crest sewn into the shirt of Arsenal has been modified over the years also. The first peak 1888 consisted of three cannons viewed from above, pointing northwards. The coat of arms district of Woolwich was the inspiration for this design. Each gun was decorated with the head of a lion and a rattlesnake. This design did not survive the move to Highbury. The peak single-barrel, now familiar, was introduced in 1925. In 1949, the crest was changed again. The gun was unchanged, but the name "Arsenal" is added above the gun. The coat of arms was placed beneath Islington gun and a scroll with the motto of the club below that. In 2002, with the aim of creating a shield that was the simplest copy writing, a crest was introduced again the barrel once again facing east with the green color is replaced by dark blue.
